Music
All students receive weekly music instruction at the Edison K8 School. Musical instruction begins with singing and then progresses to learning to play a recorder and read sheet music in second and third grades.
Starting in fall 2009, the school has also been rolling out a string and wind instrument program for students starting in fourth grade. Musical instruments are provided by the school to students in exchange for a refundable deposit. Middle school students use a computer lab to write and mix their own songs.
Students in grades 7 and 8 are able to participate in the band during the school day as part of their specialty schedule and after school by arrangement with Mr. Rivera. Faculty members from Berklee College help teach through the Berklee Faculty Outreach Program.
