Athletics
All students at the Edison K8 School have physical education class once per week; students up through fifth grade also have dance class once per week. All students, including middle school grades, have outdoor recess, either right before or after lunch.
The Edison K8 School has an indoor gymnasium for physical education classes regardless of the weather outside. The gymnasium is also used for the basketball teams and the after-school program.
The outdoor schoolyard underwent a $300,000 renovation in 2011-2012 that installed new playground equipment suitable for all ages. Also included are an outdoor basketball court and all-weather turf field.
Through an arrangement with Boston College, Edison PE classes are also permitted to use the neighboring grass fields on BC's Brighton Campus next to the St. John's Seminary. Classes and the after-school program will sometimes use Rogers Park, located two blocks away.
The school currently has boys and girls teams competing against other BPS schools in the following sports:
