New BPS Anti-Bullying Policy
The state legislature passed a law last year to expand anti-bullying efforts in the public schools. School districts throughout the state were required to create new anti-bullying policies consistent with the new law.
The new Boston Public Schools anti-bullying policy can be found on their "Anti-bullying Resources" webpage and is attached below. It was approved by the Boston School Committee at its December 16, 2010 meeting.
Also attached below are two forms for reporting bullying: one is a full report, while the other is a limited, anonymous report. Note that "no disciplinary action will be taken against an alleged aggressor solely on the basis of an anonymous report."
As written in the policy:
"Bullying, as defined in M.G.L. c. 71, § 37O, is the repeated use by one or more students of a written, verbal, or electronic expression or a physical act or gesture or any combination thereof, directed at a target that:
The policy requires schools to post both the policy and the bullying report forms on the school's website. They are attached below.
Every school must identify one or more individuals who are the points-of-contact for all complaints or allegations of bullying. At the Edison K8 School, at least one of the following three staff members must be notified of any and all cases of suspected bullying:

- causes physical or emotional harm to the target or damage to the target’s property;
