1. What do I do if my child will be out sick or will be late to school?
You should call the main office (617-635-8436) before 8:00 am in order to notify the school that your child will be out sick or late. When your child returns to school, you should send your child with a note for his or her teacher explaining the absence.
2. What do I do if I am having problems with school bus transportation for my child?
If the problem is with the bus itself (such as it being late), then you must contact the BPS Transportation Department directly at 617-635-9520. You may also call the Edison school, 617-635-8436 to help you navigate transportation problems.
Note that students are not marked as tardy if they arrive late due to the school bus arriving late.
If the problem is with behavior, discipline, or suspected bullying on the bus, then it falls under the school's code of conduct and you should contact the school and report the problem to: Assistant Principal Kimberley Williams (grades K-4), Assistant Principal Stacey Woods (grades 5-8), and/or Principal Samantha Varano.
3. How do I contact the school, or the after-school program, after hours?

During regular school hours the school can be contacted through the phone in the main office (617-635-8436).
4. How do I contact my teacher?

5. What do I do if I want to pick up my child after school, rather than have him or her take the bus?
When children are scheduled to take the bus, but you want to pick up him or her instead, you should notify your teacher and/or the school that morning. See #4 above for contacting your teacher, or contact the school's office at 617-635-8436.
When you arrive to pick up your child, you must go to the main office (to the right after going in the main entrance) to sign your child out.
6. What do I do if my child needs to take medication at school?
If your child requires daily medication, you must provide a signed order from your doctor. It is vital that the School Nurse knows if your childe has a medical condition that may require special treatment. If your child has Asthma, Diabetes, Seizures, or any other medical condition that requires supplies and medications to care for them, you must provide them on the first day of school.
Consents to take over the counter medications (Tylenol, Motrin, and Benadryl) and topical medications for cuts/scrapes will be sent home at the beginning of the year with each child for your signature. If your child presents with a headache, pain, fever, or menstrual cramps, the School Nurse cannot distribute medications without a signed consent. You will be called to pick your child up from school if their discomfort requires medication. Children experiencing fevers will need to be dismissed home.
