Unfortunately, the construction work that was supposed to have been done over the summer was delayed until this fall. The current construction plans are to finish most of the work by the beginning of November. (Only the painting of the asphalt area of the schoolyard will be left for completion in the spring.)
The delay was caused by two other major renovation projects at the school: repairs to the building's roof, which took longer than expected and required various cranes to have access to the building; and installation of a new boiler to heat the school. The roof is completed, while the boiler work is nearly complete.
As a result of the delays, students in the lower grades have been taking their outdoor recess in the narrow area on the Foster Street side of the school building (or the older playground equipment for the kindergarten students); students in the upper grades have not been going outside for outdoor recess.
